Aku sekadar manusia biasa.

Assalamualaikum.

Terima kasih.

What happens to a tree when the roots are absent?

Hi. On this very nice Sunday morning, I have something to share with you. I have been travelling a lot recently. So last month, I went to the UK. It was not your usual London holiday. We were there for a different purpose. Putting that aside, me and my family stayed there for almost one month. And that was a very loooong time away from home. Believe me. After we had done what had to be done, we came back. There's no need to talk about the trip, right?

Anyway, my father, who always makes decisions on a whim, decided that we have to go back to Terengganu ASAP. And yeah, two days later, we did go back to Terengganu. You can imagine the lethargy accumulated from trip and not mentioning the jet lag we acquired during the flight. The best chance for us to rest was sacrificed instead of a 7-hour long drive to Terengganu. The only appropriate question would be "why dad?".

So, can you tell me why? Can you make out the reason behind this? You see, one thing about my father, is that he implies his thinking into his actions, literally. So what he thought was, no matter how far you go, how big your achievements are or how good you become, you can never forget your roots. Can you see the difference in place, status and time? From the much renowned high-end Western land of UK straight to humble Malay kampong of Terengganu. It's quite an experience, if you ask me.

For those who wish to be successful, rich, or famous, no matter what you do, just don't forget who you are and where you came from. Even Islam stresses on the importance of your origin, or as the Malay says it, 'keturunan'. Don't try to imitate other people because you might lose sight of the real purpose of what you are doing. A good example? The Japanese. What did they do? I don't know, they just rose from the ashes and conquered the world's economy in just a matter of 40-50 years. No big deal? I don't think so. They did all that and still managed to preserve their culture in their work and life. So just ask yourself. Why can't we be like them?

Just a piece of advice.
